Optimal Management of Durable Pollution

چکیده

This paper studies an incompletely informed regulator's problem of inducing a firm producing durable pollution to adopt a socially optimal pollution storage technology. We construct a sparse, yet flexible, theoretical model that can be applied directly to concrete situations as it is stated explicitly in terms of statistical parameters. Next, we show the existence of an optimal regulatory contract and examine its qualitative features for one of the many regulatory problems suggested by the general model. Our model extends the standard inventory model by making the firm's storage technology a strategic choice induced by the regulatory contract. Moreover, by providing a structural model of the firm, our model generates useful information that has to be assumed in an abstract regulatory model. JEL Classification: C61, D82, D92

Multi-objective Optimization of Customers’ Load and Local Energy Resources in order to Increase Profitability and Decrease Pollution of Smart Microgrid

In this study, a new multi-objective method is proposed to optimal manage the local energy resources and customers’ load in a microgrid in the presence of demand response programs. The wind turbine and photovoltaic panel are the renewable energy sources of the microgrid. The time of use and critical peak pricing programs are also used to improve the consumption pattern of customers. Moreover, c...

A model of brand competition for durable goods supply chains in a dynamic framework

Game theory is an efficient tool to represent and conceptualize the problems concerning conflict and competition. In recent years and especially for durable products, competition between domestic and foreign brands for gaining market share has received a considerable attention. This paper study electronic commerce concepts by differential game theory and introduce a novel and comprehensive mode...

Consumption/pollution tradeoffs in an environment vulnerable to pollution-related catastrophic collapse*

This paper considers the consequences of an avoidable risk of irreversible environmental catastrophe for society’s optimal long-run consumption/pollution tradeoffs. The risk is assumed to be a nondecreasing function of pollution concentration which evolves as a dynamic environmental renewal process. The main objective of the paper is to derive qualitative insights regarding the effects of such ...

Selecting the Right Cause from the Right Category: Does the Role of Product Category Matter in Cause-Brand Alliance? A Case Study of Students in Shanghai Universities

Increased competition is making it difficult to distinguish products solely by attributes, creating room for cause-related marketing. In this study with a sample of 322 university students, we evaluated the changes in consumer attitudes toward cause and brand as consequences of Cause Brand Alliance (CBA), by using the product category as moderator. Four popular brands from two product categorie...
